Join artist, art educator, community activist, and Pilsen resident Luis Tubens on a colorful journey through the culturally rich Mexican American Pilsen area of the local public art.
With a perspective rooted in more than 15 years of experience in the neighborhood's art and sociopolitical worlds, Luis Tubens will discuss the larger meaning behind the artwork in Pilsen, weaving the history of the area with vibrant large-scale murals and lived experiences.

Luis Tubens was born and raised in Chicago and has worked in the Pilsen neighborhood for over fifteen years. He was an art educator at the National Museum of Mexican Art for ten years, then moved into his current role as an outreach coordinator for Cook County commissioner Jesús G. “Chuy” Garcia of the Seventh District. Tubens utilizes his art and political perspectives of Pilsen to create lively, in-depth walking tours.
