Meet members of Illinois Prairie Weavers and their looms on Saturday, September 14, 1- 4PM. Adults and children will each have an opportunity to weave.
Meet members of the Illinois Prairie Weavers Guild and their looms! You’ll see how weavers at their looms can “weave, weave, weave wonderful things.” (Edna St. Vincent Millay). We’ll tell you about the art and craft of weaving, touch on the history (did you know that women wove the sails that caught the wind that brought the Vikings to England?).
Adults and children will each have an opportunity to weave, and make their own small woven piece. There will be several different kinds of looms with experienced weavers to guide their hands.
The Illinois Prairie Weavers Guild is celebrating its seventy-fifth anniversary year. We meet monthly in Lombard Illinois, and is open to anyone, novice or experienced, or just interested in learning a little more about weaving.
