Understand the fundamentals of voting, including your rights and where to get assistance. Examine the effect of misinformation and disinformation on the voting process with Common Cause.
This program has been rescheduled from August 1.
In this presentation, we'll delve into crucial aspects of ensuring voter participation, support, and community engagement for the upcoming November election.
Voting 101: Understanding the fundamentals of voting is essential. We'll discuss the Voter Bill of Rights, acceptable forms of identification required at the polls, the significance of provisional ballots, and ensuring access to the ballot box for all eligible voters.
Voter Support: We'll highlight the Illinois Election Protection program designed to assist voters across the entire state. How, through the Election Protection initiative, Common Cause aims to address barriers to voting, provide guidance on navigating the voting process, and offer support to individuals encountering challenges on Election Day.
Common Issues and Challenges: Voter support is crucial due to various obstacles that voters may encounter. We'll examine examples of calls received by the 866-Our-Vote hotline during previous elections, illustrating the importance of this service. Additionally, we'll explore the pervasive impact of misinformation and disinformation on elections, emphasizing the need for accurate information and voter education.
Engaging Your Community: Finally, we'll discuss actionable steps for engaging and supporting your community during the November election. Whether through voter outreach, education initiatives, or volunteer efforts, each individual plays a vital role in promoting voter participation and ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
By addressing these key areas, we aim to equip attendees with the knowledge and resources needed to advocate for voting rights, provide support to fellow voters, and actively engage their communities in the democratic process. Together, we can work towards a more inclusive and participatory election environment for all citizens.
