Interested in cosplaying or learning some new ideas? Our panel of cosplayers and seamstresses can answer your question and provide inspiration! Cosplay Contest winners will be announced at the end.
Panelists:
Karen Bergquist Dezoma has been costuming for over 40 years. While her primary emphasis has been historical dress, she has done a variety of science fiction and fantasy costumes including Jedi, Doctor Who 9th Doctor, Madam Hooch from the Wizarding World, and Doctor Quymn from Venture Bothers. She has judged national and Chicago area masquerades including multiple WorldCons, CostumeCons, and Chicago TARDIS. She is also active in SteamPunk, appearing as part of the Krieger family each year at TeslaCon.
Rose Bonarek is an artist in the hopes of creating a career. She is currently going to school and about to start her second year for costume construction. She has been sewing since she was 10 years old, and has watched the Lord of the Rings Trilogy with every project. She migrated into cosplaying not long after, and has been doing it ever since!
Geannina Gutierrez Thrifter. Master crafter. Designer. And tea drinker for Life. Geannina Gutiérrez is a master-level cosplay competitor, having reached that status in only two years. She is also a Creative Visual Illustrator, working mainly in Traditional Mixed Media with watercolor as her main medium. What she enjoys most is creating visual stories using the process of Illustration and Storytelling that brings a deeper dimension to her work. She would like to take that further into movies, Table Tops, and RPG style video games -- to be part of something bigger and make amazing stories to present to the world.
